First Community Bank was originally chartered as the First National Bank of San Benito on September 27, 1979 and opened for business on October 3rd of that year in San Benito, Texas. The bank’s roots are evident in its ownership, represented by local businesspeople with a strong family heritage in the Rio Grande Valley. The shareholders represent diverse Valley industries including agriculture, medicine, law, and finance. In each case, our board of directors shares a common vision for the bank, rooted in a commitment to the community it serves, and will remain an independent home-owned banking institution both now and in the future.
As Cameron County’s oldest chartered independently-owned bank, First Community Bank continues to meet the growing demands of the communities we serve by providing personal banking relationships with individuals and businesses alike. Our strong sense of community and our efforts to be an active participant within the communities we serve have enabled First Community Bank to become the premier independent community bank for the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas.
For over a quarter century we have been committed to our vision of being an independent financial leader within all the communities we serve, and we are excited about the many opportunities we have to serve our customers as we continue to add locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. We will continue to evolve our business to serve and meet all the needs of our community, its businesses, and residences. Remember…
Other banks have branches, we have ROOTS!
