George L. Labar, Jr.
January 19,1934 – June 5, 2018

The First Community Bank family mourns the loss of George L. Labar, Jr., who passed away June 5, 2018. George was a founding director of First National Bank of San Benito now known as First Community Bank. He served on the board of directors from October 1979 until his death.

George was raised in Harlingen and after graduating from Harlingen High School and attending Schreiner College, he came home to begin his farming and ranching career. He was a breeder of full French Charolais cattle and was well known for his expertise in the field. He was invited to judge cattle shows throughout the United States and abroad.

After retiring from farming and ranching, George joined the First Community Bank team as a business development officer at the Los Fresnos banking center. He later transferred to the South Padre Island banking center where he worked until his passing.

George will be remembered for his kindness and compassion. He was a mentor and friend to the directors, officers and employees he worked with as well has his customers. First Community Bank is a better banking organization because of his service.

The First Community Bank family extends our sincere condolences to George’s family which include his wife, Lesa, daughter Becky, and son Lee.
